EC401-50 is an ESB bus coupler module used for Yokogawa CENTUM CS3000 DCS system. This module provides high speed ESB bus connection between FCU field control unit and FIO node units, realizing real time transmission of I/O data, control data and diagnostic information. EC401-50 is an ESB bus coupler module used for Yokogawa CENTUM CS3000 DCS system. This module provides high speed ESB bus connection between FCU field control unit and FIO node units, realizing real time transmission of I/O data, control data and diagnostic information. It supports single and redundant configuration, and is designed for high reliability industrial process control applications.

Main Function

It serves as the interface coupler for ESB bus expansion, extending the ESB bus to connect multiple remote I/O node units. It performs signal isolation, data forwarding, bus communication management and self-diagnosis functions to ensure stable and deterministic communication of system I/O.

System Compatibility

Applicable to CENTUM CS3000 system R3 version and above, matched with FIO type FCU and corresponding node units, compatible with standard ESB bus system architecture.

Electrical and Performance Parameters

Communication mode is dedicated high speed serial ESB bus. Communication transmission rate is 128 Mbps. The maximum cable distance between adjacent units is 10 meters. Each EC401-50 can connect up to 9 node units. Operating power is supplied through backplane, operating current is approximately 0.5 A. The module provides electrical isolation between internal circuit and ESB bus to resist industrial electromagnetic interference.

Environmental Conditions

Operating temperature range is 0 degree Celsius to 55 degree Celsius. Storage temperature range is minus 20 degree Celsius to 70 degree Celsius. Relative humidity is 5 percent to 95 percent non-condensing. Protection grade is IP20 for indoor cabinet installation.

Installation and Configuration

The module adopts standard rack mounting structure, installed in designated slot position of FCU cabinet. Redundant configuration adopts two EC401-50 modules working in hot standby mode, realizing non disturbance automatic switching when one module fails. Non-redundant configuration uses single module with vacant slot equipped with dummy cover module.

Redundancy and Operation

Redundant ESB bus structure supports real time data synchronization between master and standby module. When communication channel or module hardware fails, system completes seamless failover without interrupting field control and I/O data transmission.

Indication and Diagnosis

The module is equipped with multiple LED status indicators to display power status, running status, ready status, fault alarm and communication status. It has built-in self-diagnosis function, which can automatically detect module hardware fault, ESB bus communication fault, node connection abnormality, and upload fault information to upper station for maintenance prompt.

Application Scope

Widely used in petrochemical, power plant, metallurgy, water treatment and other process industries. It is mainly used for expanding FIO remote I/O bus connection of CS3000 DCS, suitable for large and medium scale control occasions requiring high communication reliability and long distance I/O layout.
