5. Installation & Wiring

5.1 Installation Requirements

  1. Mounting: Install in an AWC 500 rack (horizontal) in a ventilated cabinet; ≥50 mm clearance top/bottom.

  2. Environment: Avoid direct sunlight, moisture, corrosive gases, and excessive vibration.

  3. ESD Protection: Use anti-static wristband when handling (static-sensitive PCB).

  4. Cable Separation: Separate high-voltage cables from low-voltage communication cables by ≥10 cm.

5.2 Terminal Wiring (Simplified)

Terminal GroupDescriptionWire Gauge
Auxiliary Power

1–224 VDC (+/−)1.5 mm²
3Chassis ground (PE)2.5 mm²
Ethernet

4–5RJ45: Ethernet link (TCP/IP)CAT5e/CAT6
CAN Bus

6–7CAN1 (H/L)1.0 mm² (twisted-pair)
8–9CAN2 (H/L)1.0 mm² (twisted-pair)
RS485

10–11RS485 (A/B)1.0 mm² (twisted-pair)
Wiring Notes
  • Bus Cable: Use twisted-pair shielded cable for CAN/RS485; ground shield at one end only (PCM5-1 side).

  • Terminal Torque: Tighten terminals to 0.8–1.0 Nm to prevent loose connections and overheating.

  • Fusing: Protect 24 VDC supply with a 5 A slow-blow fuse.

5.3 Jumper & Switch Settings

  • Node Address: Set via rotary switch (1–F, hex); unique for all modules in the rack.

  • CAN Termination: Jumper-selectable 120 Ω termination (enable at bus ends).

  • RS485 Mode: Jumper for 2-wire (default) or 4-wire communication.

6. Front Panel & Operation

6.1 Front Panel Layout

  • LED Indicators (Left to Right)

    • POWER: On = 24 VDC supply OK.

    • RUN: Flashing = Normal operation; Solid = Fault/trip.

    • COMM: Flashing = Communication active; Solid = Communication fault.

    • ETHERNET: Flashing = Ethernet link active; Solid = Link fault.
