KEBA DO470/B Digital Output Module (Kemro K2-400 Series) I. Product Overview

The KEBA DO470/B is a high-density, high-current digital output module of the Austrian KEBA Kemro K2-400 platform. It belongs to the KeConnect I/O family and is specifically designed for medium-sized industrial equipment such as injection molding, die-casting, and machine tools. The module is installed using a backplane bus slot method and is directly embedded into the K2-400 controller frame. It converts the main control logic signals into 24V DC high-power switching signals to drive heavy-load actuators such as solenoid valves, hydraulic valves, contactors, and heaters. It is a core I/O module for high-reliability and high-load scenarios. 

II. Core Functions

16 Independent High Current Outputs

16 channels are completely independent, with PNP source-type transistor outputs (24V DC), each channel has strong single-channel driving capability, suitable for industrial-grade heavy-load loads, and each channel can be independently programmed for on/off control.

Graded High Current Drive

The output channels are grouped according to load capacity: 1 channel × 2A, 5 channels × 1A, 10 channels × 0.5A, with a total current of up to 8A. It can directly drive hydraulic solenoid valves, large contactors, heating relays, without the need for additional power amplification boards.

High-speed Response and Precise Timing

Typical response time < 150μs, supports high-speed action control (such as injection molding / mold clamping, die-casting injection, machine tool tool change), ensuring precise synchronization of complex process timing.

Strong Isolation Anti-interference Design

Optical isolation between channels, on the output side and the system control side. Isolation withstand voltage ≥ 500V AC (1 minute). Effectively suppresses spike interference generated by motor start-stop, frequency converter, and contactor, suitable for high electromagnetic interference industrial sites.

All-round Protection Mechanism

Integrated single-channel short circuit protection, overload protection, reverse polarity protection, overheat protection, overcurrent lockout; Fault channels are automatically shut off without affecting other channels, automatically restored after fault resolution, reducing downtime risks.

LED Status Diagnosis

Each channel is equipped with a green LED (channel status): constantly on = ON, off = OFF; the module has a common fault LED, which lights up to indicate any channel short circuit / overload, allowing for quick fault location without tools.

K-bus Bus Communication and Hot Swap

Communicates with K2-400 controller through KEBA dedicated K-bus backplane bus, automatically identifies modules and configurations, supports hot swapping, can directly replace modules during operation without stopping or power-off, simplifying maintenance.

Industrial-grade Wide Temperature and Reinforced Design

Uses reinforced PCB, industrial-grade components, fully sealed dustproof, resistant to vibration / impact; wide temperature operation suitable for harsh workshop environments, supports 24-hour continuous operation.

Current grading design (2A/1A/0.5A), capable of simultaneously driving different power loads, without the need to pair multiple modules, simplifying system configuration and procurement costs.

Full-process industrial-grade testing (high temperature, low temperature, vibration, shock, EMC), MTBF ≥ 500,000 hours, suitable for 24-hour continuous operation scenarios in injection molding, die-casting, machine tools, etc.

Easy maintenance and low failure

LED intuitive diagnosis, quickly locating faulty channels; hot-swappable design supports non-stop replacement, shortening maintenance time; faulty channels are independently protected, not spreading the fault range.

Platform-specific compatibility

Only compatible with KEBA Kemro K2-400 series controllers, not compatible with K2-200 series (DO272/A, DO242/A), P30 series (DO321/B); K2-400 rack plug-and-play, new and old systems can be directly replaced.

Six. Installation and Wiring Key Points Installation steps

First installation: Power off the controller, align the K2-400 backplane slot and push it in smoothly, then lock it with the clip;

Module replacement: Supports hot swapping. Simply pull out the old module and insert the new one. The controller will automatically recognize it, and no restart is required.

Wiring specifications

Power supply: The module is powered by the K-bus bus, no additional external power supply is needed;

Output wiring: O1 to O16 connect to the positive terminals of the loads, and the negative terminals of the loads are all connected to the 24V DC 0V common terminal;

Inductive loads (electromagnetic valves / contactor coils): A parallel shunt diode (1N4007) must be connected to suppress reverse electromotive force and protect the output transistor;

Wire diameter: 1.0 to 2.5mm² multi-strand copper core wire. Heavy-load circuits are routed separately, strong and weak electricals are separated to reduce interference.

VII. Troubleshooting Guide

Single-channel LED does not light up, no output

Check if the K-bus bus connection is loose;

Confirm that channel programming is enabled and the output logic is correct;

Check for load open circuit and wiring looseness;

Test if the channel is locked due to short circuit / overload, and restart the power off to restore.

Common fault LED lights up

Check the output circuit short circuit and load damage one by one when power is off;

Check if the inductive loads are not connected with shunt diodes;

Confirm if the total current of the module exceeds 8A and if the load configuration exceeds the limit.

Output misoperation / instability

Check that the system is well grounded, the controller is common ground with the on-site equipment;

Check for strong interference sources (large power motors, frequency converters), add shielding wires;

Confirm that the shunt diode is installed correctly and intact.
