KEBA SC102 Interface / Motion Control Module I. Product Overview

The KEBA SC102 is a high-performance interface/motion control module under the Austrian KEBA Kemro K2 series. It is often used as an expansion board for systems and is paired with base boards such as PB101/A and PB201/A. It is mainly used for multi-axis motion control, high-speed I/O signal processing, and equipment-level bus communication. It is designed for industrial scenarios such as injection molding, die-casting, machine tools, and robots that require high-precision synchronous control. It is a key module in the KEBA control system that connects the core units with the field devices. 


II. Core Functions

Multi-axis Motion Control

Supports synchronous control of up to 16 servo/stepper motors, enabling electronic gearing, synchronous following, and interpolation motion, meeting requirements for precise positioning and trajectory control, suitable for high-speed dynamic applications.

High-speed I/O Signal Interchange

Integrated with multiple digital and analog channels, capable of processing 4–20mA, 0–10V standard industrial signals, achieving high-speed, reliable data conversion between sensors, actuators, and controllers, with response times in the microsecond range.

Industrial Bus Communication

Equipped with mainstream industrial Ethernet and fieldbus protocols such as EtherCAT, Profinet, Modbus RTU/TCP, supporting real-time communication, and enabling seamless integration with servo drives, HMI, PLC, and other third-party devices.

System Expansion and Integration

Using backplane slot installation, directly embedded into the KEBA K2 series controller chassis, through the K-bus backplane bus for high-speed interaction with the CPU, plug-and-play, automatic identification, supporting hot swapping, without the need for downtime maintenance.

High Precision Real-time Processing

Equipped with high-performance processors, with a motion control cycle of up to microsecond level, trajectory control accuracy of ±0.01mm, ensuring the accuracy and stability of multi-axis synchronization.

Comprehensive Diagnosis and Protection

Equipped with overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuit, overheating, and signal anomaly detection functions, alarms are triggered quickly during faults, and LED status indicators (green/red) intuitively display operating and fault states, facilitating rapid troubleshooting.

Die-Casting Equipment Electrical Control System

Realizes high-precision motion control for high-speed injection, pressurization, mold opening, and part retrieval of die-casting machines, suitable for high-speed and high-pressure dynamic conditions, ensuring casting part accuracy and production efficiency.

Industrial Machine Tools / Machining Centers

Controls multi-axis linkage of main shafts, feed axes, tool magazines, etc., realizes precise machining such as milling, drilling, and grinding, suitable for high-speed and high-precision machine tool applications.

VI. Installation and Wiring Key Points Installation steps

During power outage, align the SC102 module with the K2 series backplane slot and push it in smoothly, then lock it with the snap mechanism;

Insert the matching baseplate (PB101/A, PB201/A), ensuring reliable connection of the backplane bus;

After powering on, the controller automatically recognizes the module and can be put into use without additional configuration;

Support hot swapping, and modules can be replaced directly during operation, with the system automatically re-identifying them.

Wiring Specifications

Power Supply: Positive (+) and negative (-) 24V DC terminals connected to the system power supply, with reliable grounding for the ground wire;

Signal: Analog signals use shielded twisted-pair cables, with the shield layer grounded at one end, reducing interference;

Bus: EtherCAT/Profinet buses use dedicated industrial network cables, with the crystal heads securely crimped;

Wire Diameter Selection: 1.5–2.5mm² on the power side, 0.75–1.5mm² on the signal side, with separate wiring for strong and weak electricals.

VIII. Troubleshooting Guide

Module not recognized, LED does not light up

Check if the 24V DC power supply is normal and the wiring is not loose;

Confirm if the module is securely inserted with the baseplate and if the backplane bus connection is reliable;

Check if the slot is damaged and replace it for testing;

Confirm if the environmental temperature is too high, and retry after power-off cooling.

Red fault LED lights up

Immediately power off to check if there is a short circuit or overload on the output side;

Check if the load current exceeds the module's rated value;

Confirm if the analog signal is abnormal (such as a broken line, signal beyond the measurement range);

Check if the communication bus is faulty or if the network cable is damaged.

Motion control abnormality, large trajectory deviation

Check if the communication between the servo driver and the module is normal;

Confirm if the servo parameters are set correctly and the encoder signal is stable;

Check if the mechanical structure is loose or the load is unbalanced;

Check if the control program is incorrect or if the motion parameters are set reasonably.
