MP2101

MP2101 (TRICONEX Tricon SIS Main Processor Module) Model: MP2101 Brand: TRICONEX (a subsidiary of Schneider, the core CPU of the Tricon system) Position: Tricon SIS/ESD system TMR triple-redundant main controller module, the "brain" of the entire system, responsible for logical operations, I/O management, communication and safety voting, SIL3 certification, hot-swappable, triple voting, the highest safety level.

Description

I. Core Positioning

MP2101 is the sole main CPU (not I/O or communication card) of the Tricon system. It must be inserted into the CPU slot of the main frame (usually slots 1/2/3, with three redundancies); the three CPUs operate synchronously and perform hardware voting. A single CPU failure does not affect the system. It is the core of SIS safety interlock, responsible for executing safety logic, interlock operations, I/O data processing, and external communication.

II. Specification Parameters (Official Standard Version)

1. Architecture and Redundancy

Architecture: TMR triple redundancy, 3 independent CPUs execute synchronously and perform hardware three-out-of-two voting

Redundancy: Triple redundancy for CPU, power redundancy, bus redundancy

Operation: Three CPU clocks are synchronized, program is synchronized, and data is synchronized. There is no disturbance during switching

Performance: 32-bit RISC processor, main frequency ≥ 100 MHz, logic scan cycle ≤ 1 ms

2. Memory and Storage

Program memory: 4MB (expandable to 8MB), power-off retention

Data memory: 2MB, power-off retention

Storage card: Supports external Flash (program/data backup)

3. Communication Interfaces (Board-mounted)

Ethernet: 2 × 10/100Mbps RJ45 (redundant), TriStation, Modbus TCP, OPC

Serial ports: 2 × RS-232/RS-485 (DB9), Modbus RTU, debugging, third-party communication

Backplane bus: Tricon high-speed triple bus, connects all I/O and communication modules

4. I/O Capacity

Maximum I/O points: 1024 points (DI/DO/AI/AO)

Rack expansion: Supports 1 main rack + 6 expansion racks, remote I/O

Module compatibility: Full series of Tricon I/O (HCU3700, AI3401, DO3604E, ICM6211, etc.)

5. Electrical

Power supply: 24VDC (±10%), backplane redundant power supply

Power consumption: Approximately 25W

Isolation: Communication ports are 1500VAC isolated from the backplane

6. Mechanical and Environmental

Size: 225 × 112 × 40mm (standard Tricon size)

Weight: Approximately 1.4kg

Installation: CPU slot of the main frame, hot-swappable

Temperature: -40℃ ~ +70℃ (wide temperature range)

Certifications: CE, UL, CSA, TÜV SIL3, ATEX (explosion-proof zone)

7. Panel Indicator Lights

PWR (green): Normal power supply

RUN (green): CPU running normally

TMR (green): Triple redundancy synchronization normal

COM1/COM2 (yellow): Network port communication

FAULT (red): CPU / redundancy / system failure

ALARM (yellow): System alarm

III. Typical Applications

SIS/ESD: Emergency stop, interlock protection, fire gas detection (F&G)

Process safety: High-risk industries such as oil, chemical, natural gas, and power with SIL3 circuits

Logic control: Safety interlock, sequence control, PID regulation, data processing

Data interaction: Communication with DCS/PLC/upper computer via Modbus TCP/RTU

Remote maintenance: TriStation online programming, monitoring, diagnosis, program download

IV. Model Distinction (To Avoid Confusion)

MP2101: Standard TMR CPU, 2 network ports + 2 serial ports, SIL3 (mainstream)

MP2102: Enhanced version, larger memory, faster scan, supports more I/O MP2103: Older CPU model, gradually replaced by MP2101/2102

ICM6211: Communication module (not CPU), responsible for external communication

HCU3700: HART AI I/O module (not CPU)
