Product Introduction All are NI MXI-4 PCI bus interconnection cards, enabling transparent bridging between industrial control computers and PXI enclosures. Remote PXI hardware is equivalent to local device invocation. They are widely used in measurement and control, and automation testing systems. Both models have been discontinued. PCI-8331 Using copper cables for transmission, equipped with HSSDC interface, half-length PCI board, with a maximum transmission distance of 10 meters. The wiring is simple and the cost is lower. It is suitable for indoor short-distance device interconnection. PCI-8336 Using optical fiber transmission, equipped with SC optical fiber interface, full-length PCI board card. For multimode fiber, the maximum distance is 200 meters; for single-mode fiber, it can reach up to 10 kilometers. With photoelectric isolation design, it has strong anti-interference ability and is suitable for industrial strong electromagnetic and long-distance wiring scenarios.

Installation and usage instructions

Insert the board into the standard PCI slot of the computer when the power is off. It does not support PCI-E slots.

Connect the HSSDC dedicated cable to 8331, connect the SC optical fiber to 8336 and distinguish the receiving and transmitting ends.

Connect the other end to the slot 1 of the same model communication card in the PXI cabinet.

Install the NI-MXI-4 driver when the system is powered on, and restart to complete the identification.

After the device manager is normally identified, you can directly read and use all PXI boards in the cabinet.

Precautions:

The new system Win10, Win11 have no official drivers, only the old system can run stably.

Do not bend the optical fiber lines significantly to avoid signal attenuation.

Choose the appropriate type for short and long distances. Use 8331 for short distances and 8336 for long distances with strong interference.
