1. General Description
C suffix: Conformal coated PCB for humid, dusty, corrosive environments (oil & gas, water/wastewater, marine, food & beverage).
Function: Acts as a S908 RIO master from M580 backplane to old Quantum S908 drops (e.g., 140CRA21110, 140CRA31200).
Migration Key: Lets you keep existing S908 wiring & I/O while upgrading CPU to M580.
Non‑C counterpart: 140CRA31908 (standard, non‑coated).
Form Factor: M580 single slot (X80 standard), hot‑swap capable.
Status: Active standard migration product for harsh environments.

6. Installation & Wiring
6.1 Mounting
Power OFF M580 rack.
Insert into any single‑slot position.
Latch and tighten screw.
6.2 S908 RIO Wiring (DB9)
Use shielded twisted pair (Belden 9841 or equivalent).
Pinout: S908 standard (Tx/Rx, GND, Shield).
Shield: Ground at M580 end only.
Termination: Enable at first/last drop (120 Ω).
6.3 Ethernet Wiring (RJ45)
Connect to PC/HMI for Unity Pro programming.
CAT5e/CAT6 shielded cable recommended.
7. Configuration (Unity Pro)
Add 140CRA31908C in M580 hardware catalog.
Enable S908 RIO Master function.
Assign drop addresses (1–31) for existing Quantum CRA drops.
Map I/O words (In/Out) to M580 memory.
Download configuration to M580 CPU.
