1. General Description

The MVME162‑002 is a mid‑range 6U VME single‑board computer based on the Motorola MC68040 32‑bit microprocessor with integrated FPU, designed for industrial embedded control, data acquisition, and general‑purpose VMEbus systems requiring higher memory, floating‑point performance, and onboard SCSI storage interface.
It features a fully integrated design with local memory, battery‑backed SRAM and RTC, two serial ports, narrow SCSI‑2, four IndustryPack (IP) expansion sites, and a VMEbus master/slave interface. The board is intended for use with the MVME712 series transition modules to bring I/O to standard connectors.
Onboard resources include 512 KB battery‑backed SRAM, battery‑backed time‑of‑day (TOD) clock, one 32‑pin PLCC EPROM socket, and factory‑installed MVME162Bug firmware.
