1. General Description

The MVME162‑001 is a low‑cost, entry‑level 6U VME single‑board computer based on the Motorola MC68LC040 32‑bit microprocessor, designed for industrial embedded control, data acquisition, and general‑purpose VMEbus systems requiring basic CPU performance and minimal onboard I/O.
It features a fully integrated design with local memory, battery‑backed SRAM and RTC, two serial ports, IndustryPack (IP) expansion capability, and a VMEbus master/slave interface. The board is intended for use with the MVME712 series transition modules to bring I/O to standard connectors.
Onboard resources include 512 KB battery‑backed SRAM, battery‑backed time‑of‑day (TOD) clock, one 32‑pin PLCC EPROM socket, and factory‑installed MVME162Bug firmware.
Peripherals include two EIA‑232‑D serial ports, four IndustryPack (IP) module sites, and a VMEbus interface. The MVME162‑001 does not include onboard SCSI or Ethernet controllers.
