Manufacturer: Motorola, later Emerson / Artesyn / Curtiss‑Wright
Form Factor: 6U VMEbus (VMEbus Rev C, supports A32/D32 VME64)
CPU: Motorola MC68030 @ 25 MHz
FPU: MC68882 @ 25 MHz
DRAM: 8 MB standard, with parity
Application: Industrial control, real‑time embedded systems, factory automation, VME64 upgrade platforms, high‑reliability legacy systems
Key Identification:
MVME147SA‑1 = 25 MHz, 8 MB DRAM with parity, A32/D32 VME64, onboard Ethernet, SCSI, four serial ports
It is a higher‑performance variant in the MVME147S family, different from the older 20 MHz MVME‑147A.

1. General Description

The MVME147SA‑1 is a high‑performance 6U VMEbus single‑board computer, designed for real‑time industrial and embedded applications. It is built around the Motorola MC68030 32‑bit microprocessor operating at 25 MHz, featuring an integrated memory management unit (MMU) and a 256‑byte unified instruction/data cache. An MC68882 floating‑point coprocessor runs at the same 25 MHz clock rate, providing full IEEE 754 floating‑point capability.
Onboard memory includes 8 MB of shared DRAM with programmable parity for high reliability, 4 KB of battery‑backed SRAM for non‑volatile storage, and a battery‑backed real‑time clock (RTC). Four 32‑pin ROM/EPROM/EEPROM sockets support up to 4 MB of boot and firmware storage.
Peripheral interfaces include four EIA‑232‑D serial ports, a Centronics‑compatible parallel printer port, an asynchronous SCSI controller with DMA, and an onboard Ethernet controller for 10 Mbps AUI network connection.
The VMEbus interface supports full A32/D32 addressing and data transfer, as well as A24/D16 compatibility, with master/slave operation and system controller functions. The MVME147SA‑1 is intended for use in VME64 backplanes and is fully compatible with legacy VMEbus Rev C systems.
