4256A84G02 is the second-generation upgraded relay digital output module of Westinghouse Emerson 4256 series Ovation WDPF distributed control system, fully plug-and-play backward compatible with base version 4256A84G01. It matches 4256A25 MRC main remote control boards and 4256A26 remote expansion boards for remote I/O rack layout, no system logic program or parameter modification needed during card replacement.

Description

This module is designed to convert internal digital control commands from the MRC master board into contact switching signals via on-board isolated relays, used to drive field solenoid valves, lighting indicators, alarm horns, small contactors, equipment interlock loops and auxiliary actuators. Each channel adopts independent optocoupler pre-isolation + relay double isolation design, completely eliminating cross-channel interference and ground loop coupling noise. The module carries comprehensive intelligent diagnosis logic, detecting relay contact adhesion, output loop open circuit, overload short circuit and inductive load back-EMF abnormal signals, and uploads real-time fault alarms to the DCS host controller through MRC Link differential bus.
Compared with G01 basic version, G02 upgrades high-reliability industrial-grade signal relays with longer mechanical and electrical service life; optimizes multi-stage surge absorption and freewheeling protection circuits for inductive loads such as coils and valves; enhances EMC anti-interference performance under strong electromagnetic industrial environment; expands fault diagnosis coverage and improves response speed of output state feedback, suitable for frequent switching and high-reliability interlock control scenarios.
The circuit board adopts multi-layer high-temperature resistant FR-4 industrial PCB with 360° full-surround electromagnetic shielding layout. Every output channel realizes 1000V AC/DC reinforced galvanic isolation between field wiring terminals and internal logic circuits, effectively isolating surge, high-frequency electromagnetic radiation and back electromotive force generated by motors, high-voltage switch cabinets and large rotating equipment in thermal power, petrochemical, metallurgical heavy industry sites. All finished modules pass strict full-lifecycle factory reliability verification: 72-hour high-low temperature cyclic aging test, full-channel relay pull-in/break calibration, long-duration full-load bus communication burn-in test, relay contact wear and loop short-circuit comprehensive fault simulation test.
It supports single-slot hot-swappable online replacement without powering off the entire remote I/O station. Each output channel integrates multi-layer integrated hardware protection: surge suppression, overcurrent cut-off, reverse polarity prevention, inductive load freewheeling protection, overload self-locking protection to avoid module damage caused by field wiring faults. Independent LED diagnostic indicators separately display power supply status, MRC bus communication link status, real-time relay output on/off status and single-channel loop fault alarm information for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting.
