MMS6823
Description
EPRO MMS6823 Product Manual (Core Version) Product Overview
The EPRO MMS6823 is an RS485 to Modbus/TCPIP communication interface module. It is a core component of the German EPRO (now Emerson) MMS6000 series TSI (turbo-generator monitoring system), used for protocol conversion and network transmission of data such as vibration, displacement, and speed of rotating machinery. It is widely applied in the power, petrochemical, and metallurgical industries.
Functional features
Data collection: Poll the MMS6000 series monitoring modules (such as MMS6210, MMS6310) via the RS485 bus to collect characteristic values, real-time waveforms, module status, and alarm information.
Protocol conversion:
Output 1: Modbus RTU/ASCII (optional), output through a 48-pin backplane interface, with selectable rates of 38400/57600 bps.
Output 2: Ethernet TCP/IP (RJ45 interface), 10/100Mbps adaptive, supports custom IP addresses.
System integration: Data can be connected to DCS, DEH, and vibration analysis systems. Supports configuring MMS6000 module parameters through the MMS6910 software.
Redundant power supply: Supports 18~31.2VDC redundant input, in accordance with IEC 654-2 standard, ensuring stable operation in industrial environments. Technical Specifications
Input interface: RS485 (48-pin socket), rate 38400/57600 bps.
Output interface:
Modbus: RS485/48-pin socket, RTU/ASCII selectable.
Ethernet: RJ45, 10/100Mbps adaptive.
Power supply: 18~31.2VDC (redundant), typical power consumption ≤ 5W.
Size: Standard 19-inch rack, 3U height (128.4mm), depth 160mm.
Operating environment: Temperature 0~60℃, humidity 0~90% RH (no condensation).
Resolution: 16 bits; accuracy: ±1% full scale.
Interface definition (backplane)
48-pin socket: RS485 input, Modbus output, power supply, ground, configuration signal.
RJ45: Ethernet TCP/IP communication, supports Modbus TCP.
RS232 (front): Local configuration and debugging, connects to MMS6910 software.
Installation and configuration
Installation: 3U 19-inch standard rack installation, reliable grounding, avoid strong electromagnetic interference.
Wiring:
RS485 bus: A/B lines correspond to MMS6000 module, terminal resistors should be connected as needed.
Ethernet: Directly connect to switch or upper computer, configure IP address (default can be modified through software).
Power supply: Redundant DC24V connection, positive and negative poles should be correct, avoid reverse connection.
Configuration:
Connect to computer via front RS232, run MMS6910 software.
Set the local IP, Modbus address, baud rate, data polling cycle.
Configure parameters of MMS6000 module (range, alarm threshold, filtering, etc.).
Troubleshooting:
Communication failure: Check RS485 wiring, terminal resistors, baud rate matching; Ethernet check IP connectivity, network cable integrity.
Data anomaly: Verify MMS6000 module power supply and configuration, check sensor wiring and front-end status.
Power failure: Measure input voltage whether within 18~31.2VDC range, check redundant power supply load capacity.
